There are two main social events at ECIR'23, the welcome reception and the banquet.
The welcome reception of ECIR'23 will take place at the Teeling Whiskey distillery, a short walk from the Radisson hotel. For interested attendees, the reception will include a guided tour of the distillery and offer visitors the chance to experience the complete whiskey-making process. There will, of course, be opportunities to sample Teeling Whiskey and reception food will be provided. Please note that this is not intended to constitute a full evening meal. The welcome reception will begin at 7:30pm and end by 10pm. Delegates are welcome to join for some, or all, of the reception. Registered attendees at the main conference and the workshops can attend the welcome reception.
The ECIR'23 conference banquet will be held in the Banking Hall of the Westin Hotel, in Dublin City centre, which his about a ten minute walk through the centre of Dublin. The Banking Hall was built in 1866 as the headquarters of the Provincial Bank, one of Ireland's three main banks at that time. The banking hall is a high-ceilinged ornate hall in the elaborate style of the mid-nineteenth century. Delegates can arrive from 7:30pm and there will be a small Prosecco reception upon arrival. Seating for the banquet is expected to occur at 8pm, with a finishing time about 10pm. The dinner menu has been chosen in advance (salmon and beef) and there will be a vegan option that can be requested by attendees. Red and white wine will be provided and a cash bar will be open for delegates who wish to enjoy additional Westin Hotel hospitality. Please note that as of 20 March, the banquet is full.
